The Peruvian torch is the thick, often powder-blue column of the San Pedro group, and the clones here are among its best known: Rosei 1, Not Fade Away (NFA), Sharxx Blue and the Berkeley accession BBG 48.1540. At rarecactus.com we take every cutting from a mother plant we grow ourselves, outdoors in full sun in Orange County, California, where strong light keeps the blue bloom thick.
Like most cacti they are listed on CITES Appendix II, and these are nursery-propagated cuttings, never wild collected. They are legal to own as ornamental plants in all fifty states, and our state-by-state legality guide cites the statute for each. We ship within the United States only.
POWO now files the Peruvian torch under Echinopsis macrogona, and our Peruvian torch species page covers its range, its forms and how to tell it from pachanoi. The rest of the group is under San Pedro cactus for sale.
